Introduction: Christian persecution has been going on in the world probably since the first century. Christians were attacked and killed for their faith in Jesus Christ, and were attacked by groups such as Jews and also the Roman Empire. Christianity was then legalized in the early fourth century, through the Edict of Milan. Persecution today is mainly done by Islams. The organization called Open Doors in the UK estimated that in the 20th century, 100 million Christians faced persecution. Today around 75% of the worlds population live in areas with severe religious restrictions. Overview: Imagine preaching the gospel but always have to look out for rebels who want to kill Christians. This is a very under stated description of what is going on with Christians in Syria today. Christian persecution has been going on in Syria for a long time, and it happens quite often. This is why Syria is ranked 3rd in the world for Christian persecution. One of the major events that has happened with in the past couple of years is the Syria civil war. Syria has only recently been becoming cruel and deadly. It has become like this because of rebellion and government disrupt.
